THE EMERGING PROPOSAL

An overview

The proposal will include up to 300 high-quality homes designed for families, including affordable homes for Basildon people, not those living outside the borough.

There is an opportunity to improve connectivity from Wash Road to Barleylands with a new footpath, which is something being considered at this stage of the process.

The site can deliver new infrastructure in the form of two community buildings. These buildings could be used as education, health or sports facilities. The proposal includes allotments and a new community park.

We would like to seek your ideas and receive your input to shape this part of the proposal as it comes forward.

Planning context

In terms of planning policy justifications, Basildon Council have identified this site (H22) as a preferred option for housing in its emerging Local Plan, as set out in its Regulation 18 documents published in early November 2024.

With the emerging planning policy process running in the background, Woolsington One Limited is preparing a hybrid planning application for submission in early 2025. It will allow 100 homes to be delivered in the first phase.
